The monthly meeting of the Minnesota QRP Society was held on Saturday, January 9, 2010. Steve, NW0C, called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. The December meeting minutes were approved.
Plans for the February meeting / FYBO (Freeze Your B___ Off) operation were discussed. This will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Minnetonka Community Center. Members are encouraged to bring rigs, antennas, batteries, solar panels, etc. for FYBO. We will have our regular meeting room reserved from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Due to another event at the center, we will not operate in the patio. We are to use the parking lot. We will also be having a buildathon at the February meeting. The club decided to purchase twenty AA0ZZ keyer kits from the Four States QRP Group. Steve, NW0C, ordered the kits at $15 each (normal price is $17). So if you would like one please bring cash or check with you. Checks should be made payable to Minnesota QRP Society. There was mention of several license classes going on. Information was given by Richard, KD0JDF, Rob, K0CD, Daniel, KC0QHZ, and Phill, N0OE. Members are encouraged to post details to the e-mail list.
The March meeting will feature a program on working with sheet metal.
Craig, AA0ZZ, discussed his PIC-EL article featured in the Feb. QST magazine. He has added USB I/O capability. A PIC-EL board was passed around. Craig talked about the DDS60 daughter board and the SI570 Silicon Labs PLL chip.
